It's all about the sauce. Whatever you call it - Tali Sauce, Lemon Twist, Lemon Curry - IT is what makes this bowl To. Die. For. Brandon has perfected his version of the actual Tali Sauce from The Whole Bowl on Hawthorne here in Portland, and in the months since we've varied the ingredients of the bowl itself to come up with some pretty amazing combos. But beware....once you taste the sauce, you'll jones for it every night & start using it in everything.
The Original:
- Brown rice
- Black and red beans
- Tali sauce
- Avocados
- Olives
- Salsa
- Cilantro
- Cheese and sour cream, optional
5 Flavor:
- Brown rice
- Beans (umami)
- Tali sauce (sour/pungent)
- Avocado (salty)
- Salsa (spicy)
- Cilantro (bitter/pungent)
- Mango (sweet)
I would say the Tali Sauce alone carries 4 of the 5 tastes; the addition of sweet mango rounds it all out.
Non-veg:
- Brown rice
- Tali sauce
- Salmon
- Avo
- Cilantro
- Salsa
This one is good with mango as well! We've tried it with chicken, but it's not as good. Salmon makes it a little more like deconstructed sushi in a bowl.
Super Green:
- Quinoa or Brown rice
- Beans (or green split peas, or lentils)
- Spinach
- Asparagus pieces (raw or blanched)
- Avo
- Cilantro
- Tali sauce
More options will be added to this post as we experiment further!
